A2i Program and Green Delta Insurance signs MoU for activating sales of Insurance Services from Digital Centers

17^th July 2016, Prime Minister’s Office, Dhaka: With a vision to provide insurance service across the country through the Union Digital Centers, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Access to Information (a2i) program of Prime Minister’s Office and Green Delta Insurance Company Limited at the Prime Minister’s Office. Mr. Kabir Bin Anwar, Director, Admin and Project Director, Access to Information Program, PMO and Ms. Farzanah Chowdhury ACII (UK), Managing Director & CEO of Green Delta Insurance signed the MoU on behalf of Respective organizations.

This MoU will enable the rural people to take various insurance policies like – fire insurance, Digital Centers.  Initially Digital Centers will be providing insurance service on a pilot basis, but gradually it will be scaled up to all the centers throughout the country. By providing the insurance policies, the agents in these Digital Centers will be getting a specific commission for each policy sold. By adding insurance with the gent banking service in the Digital Centers, the Financial Inclusion program in Bangladesh will receive a further boost.

Each Union Digital Center is a modern, ICT enabled, one-stop service center. Through these centers, people in the remote villages will also be able to enjoy 102 public / private and financial services like issuing insurance policies, fill forms for government jobs, get result of public examinations, , online university admission, online birth / death registration, IT training and so on.

Mr. Naimuzzaman Mukta, People’s Perspective Specialist, a2i program, Mr. Nasir A. Choudhury, Advisor and Founding Managing Director, Green Delta Insurance, Mr. Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, Additional Managing Director and Company Secretary, Green Delta Insurance, Mr. T. H. Farhad, Deputy Managing Director, Green Delta Insurance and Mr. Wafi S M Khan, Deputy Managing Director of Green Delta Insurance were also present at the ceremony. Other high officials from both the organizations also attended the event.
